Parks
The parks of Virginia's New River Valley
region are numerous and found throughout region. Additional
parks and recreation areas are located in the adjoining
regions.
The Jefferson National Forest runs through
three of the four counties in the New River Valley. West
Virginia's New River Gorge parklands lie just north of the
Blue Ridge Highlands, just a little over an hour's drive
away.
Claytor
Lake State Park and the New River Trail State Park are
located in the New River Valley. Several additional state
parks are found in adjoining regions of Virginia and West
Virginia.
County
and local governments have developed an impressive network
of parks and recreation areas throughout Virginia's New
River Valley. Many more public parks are found nearby.
